I have lived and worked in China since 1996, and during this time I have been responsible for operations, corporate affairs, strategy, governance and compliance and government relations for Motorola China. This wide ranging experience has given me a practical appreciation of the many challenges, frustrations and rewards of winning in China and I am committed to leveraging this experience for the AmCham-China community. I have been active in the AmCham-China PPDC, Visa Committee and Board for the past five years and I am currently serving as Vice Chairman focused on working with the Board and the AmCham-China team to engage and better support each of our Working Groups. Our Working Groups are critical to our success and while we have accomplished much over the past year there remains much more to be done - I look forward to continuing this important work in 2010. Another important focus for next year will be continuing to improve our advocacy strategies, processes and results - I have great respect for the work we have done to influence Beijing and Washington in support of our members advocacy needs and I look forward to significantly improving this capability in 2010. |

David Wang was named vice president of Boeing and president of Boeing China in November 2002. Prior to joining Boeing, Wang served as GE China CEO for 5 years. Prior to that, he served in various other leadership roles at GE in China, U.S., Mexico and Malaysia/Singapore. At AmCham-China he is currently serving as Vice Chair as well as the co-chairman of US-China Aviation Cooperation Program (ACP) and the Export Compliance Working Group (ECWG). He is also working on an Energy Cooperation Program (ECP) patterned after the ACP success, and active in interactions with visiting U.S. officials and business leaders. Besides these China based activities, Wang also serves on the boards of directors of 2 U.S. listed companies. Concurrent with Wang's many business roles, he is also engaged with many non-profit activities such as Junior Achievement China and University advisory boards. Thus he brings a broad perspective to his AmCham-China service. He would like the opportunity to continue that service to the U.S. business community by continuing to serve on the AmCham-China leadership team. |

I am seeking your support to serve as the Vice-Chair of AmCham-China’s Board in 2010. As a Vice-Chair in 2009, I was responsible for organizing AmCham-China’s May doorknock to Washington, during which we met over 100 members of Congress and the Administration to lobby on behalf of AmCham-China members. I also worked with the PPDC on the March release of the business climate survey, and I strove throughout the year to ensure that AmCham-China was always ready to serve its members from the largest MNC to the smallest SME. Prior to serving as Vice Chair, I was on the board in 2007, participated in the Doorknock, served as co-chair of the IT/Telecom Forum and a member of PPDC, and contributed each year to the White Paper. 2009 was a challenging year, with an evolving financial crisis and new trade tensions. In times like this, AmCham-China’s role helping American companies win in China, enhancing the business environment, and working to improve US-China relations has never been more important. Living in China for 12 years, I have seen the great things that AmCham-China can accomplish when it draws on the strengths of all of its members, and I have the experience to effectively work within AmCham-China to serve the evolving needs of the American business community at this critical time for all our member companies. With your support, I look forward to serving you in the coming year. |
