One June 25, just three days before the start of the G20, AmCham China Chairman Tim Stratford led a member delegation to meet with Zhang Xiaoqiang, Permanent Vice Chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE). CCIEE, a think tank sponsored by the Chinese government, provides economic policy advice to the Chinese government and senior decisionmakers. The AmCham China delegation included representatives from Intel, 3M, and Dell.

AmCham China and CCIEE exchanged views on the US-China bilateral trade and economic tensions, with Stratford briefing CCIEE on the highlights of AmCham China’s DC Doorknock in which and AmCham China delegation met with members of the Administration, Congress, and policy community between April 29 and May 3, 2019.

Vice Chairman Zhang shared his thoughts following his recent research trip to Guangdong and Henan in which he demonstrated how important the Chinese market is and underscored its high growth potential.

Both AmCham China and CCIEE expressed concerns over the stalled US-China trade negotiations and noted that they hope the two presidents will meet at the G20 and create space for negotiations to restart.
