On Saturday March 26, AmCham China hosted the first session of the 2022 Leadership Development Program (LDP). Michael Hart, President of AmCham China and Gloria Xu, Vice Chair of AmCham China, China Country Manager and Vice President, External Affairs, Albemarle welcomed the 2022 cohort which includes 34 fellows representing 28 companies and 18 industries.
The AmCham China LDP was launched in 2018 with the goal of building an ever-expanding group of leaders capable of carrying the AmCham China community forward. Our mission is to nurture future leaders by encouraging them to engage with members of the AmCham China community and US-China relationship. Every year, the AmCham China Board of Governors selects 30 – 35 candidates to participate in this prestigious eight-month program.
Su Cheng Harris-Simpson, Founder and CEO of SCHSAsia and Member of the AmCham China Board of Governors kicked-off the program with congratulations to the new cohort and shared the mission and objective of the program. Harris-Simpon’s remarks were followed by Michael’s presentation which provided attendees with a more in-depth introduction to AmCham China’s organizational mission, goals, objectives, and structure. Hart also shared his own career development, and leadership journey. The session continued with Vice-Chair of AmCham China Board of Governors, Gloria Xu. Xu shared lessons from her over 20 years of leadership and experience as an AmCham China volunteer, saying, “AmCham China does not only provide business and networking opportunities, but more importantly a platform to develop one’s leadership skills and connections.” She encouraged this year’s cohort to take full advantage of the unique program and to learn from the experiences of AmCham China’s leaders.
Every month over the next eight months, the AmCham China 2022 LDP cohort will meet for a half-day session with AmCham community leaders. The cohort will graduate and receive their certificates at AmCham China’s 2022 Annual General Meeting.
