Campaign Statement
Dear friends and colleagues,
It is my honour to campaign for a seat at the 2023 AmCham China Board of Governors. It is my belief that having a seat in the BOG will let me bring unique value to the Chamber in its advocacy and serving the member community. I would very much appreciate your vote.
I have been working for nearly thirty years in the banking and finance sector in China, initially at the regulatory bodies and later on in the private sector, and witnessed the development of the sector through ups and downs. Despite the challenges over the years, the sector has been moving forward and the continued reform and opening up of the sector has been benefiting foreign players as well as local ones. Foreign financial institutions, including member firms of the AmCham, have been playing an active role in drumming up for various reform measures, and been an active contributor to the growth of the real economy of China. The AmCham has been a strong advocate for continued reforms and bridging dialogues and communication between its members and the regulatory authorities, be it through the meetings and exchanges, signature events like Annual Appreciation Dinner, or through the broadly distributed and well referenced White-paper, and of course well liked events like the outreaches.
Having been involved in various activities and events organized by the AmCham over the last decade, and witnessed the impact that the AmCham has made on various important issues covering a broad range of matters that concern its members, the AmCham has consistently impressed me with its professionalism and dedication to serving the best interests of its members. The BOG has demonstrated strong and consistent leadership despite the personnel changes over the years, and the BOG members have played exemplary roles. Through participating in the chamber events, activities and discussions on issues of interests, I have been personally benefiting from the enlightenment of the chamber cohorts, a lot of whom have become friends and supporters of mine. Over the years, the Chamber has been drawing continuing
inflows of talents in its staff, some of whom I have had the opportunity to work with and been inspired by.
Now I believe is a time for me to seek an opportunity to make more concrete contribution to the Chamber by becoming a member of the BOG. I were elected, I would make use of my experience in the sector in supporting the Chamber in its initiatives and designing the best possible advocacy strategies while navigating through the potential risks. As is crystal clear to all, we have entered a time of challenges that we have never seen before, which however also pose great opportunities, opportunities for change and for growth. At such a challenging time, we know what value it means of promoting cooperation and communication, and building trust and confidence. For that, the Chamber is in a unique and pivotal position; and for that, I want to become a part.
Best regards,
Hongjun Teng
