Campaign Statement
My name is Su Cheng Harris-Simpson. I am campaigning for re-election to be on the AmCham China Board of Governors, and I am asking for your vote.
I have lived and worked in China for the past 27 years. During this time, I have been an active member of AmCham and served in various leadership roles in the Chamber. I take pride in my role as not only a visionary leader, but also a “doer” leader at AmCham. For the past two and a half decades, through my unbeatable spirit of innovating and community building, I have led and supported several important committees and initiatives that have contributed to strengthening the diversity and inclusion of the AmCham community throughout China.
I was an integral founding member of the Aviation Cooperation Program in the early 2000s and later founded the Women’s Professional Committee. I also served as co-chair for the SME/Entrepreneur Committee for 6 years during my tenure. Beyond committee participation and leadership, I have also spearheaded several programs that have grown into AmCham’s signature initiatives and traditions. In my tenure as Vice-Chair from 2002-2004, I helped create the Annual Charity Ball and Appreciation Dinner. Between 2019 and 2021, my strategy communications and events consulting company, SCSHAsia, worked closely with AmCham to host the pioneering Women’s Economy Summit in China. Most recently, I have been supporting the Leadership Development Program as AmCham looks to inspire and train the next generation of leaders in US-China business relations.
If elected for a fourth term to the Board of Governors, I pledge to continue my advocacy for different groups at AmCham, such as corporations to SMEs, entrepreneurs, women and young professionals. As a woman business owner, leader, and social entrepreneur, I understand more than anyone the values of building an inclusive business community that can leverage the inter-connections between industries, companies, and organizations of diverse backgrounds to thrive together, especially in an external environment filled with uncertainties in the current international economy. I plan to lead and support even more initiatives to enrich values for members and help drive AmCham’s membership growth in another term of leadership on the Board of Governors.
With your trust and vote of confidence, I look forward to continuing my commitment to AmCham as a visionary, an ally, a connector, a doer and a change agent for all members of the Chamber.
