On November 15, AmCham China’s Southwest Chapter hosted their first Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the St. Regis Chengdu. AmCham China leadership, Sichuan government representatives and members attended the AGM to reflect on the past year’s achievements and discuss future initiatives.
The event was moderated by AmCham China Southwest Chapter Chair Jeffrey Bernstein. AmCham China President Michael Hart also joined the event and delivered remarks highlighting that the rapid growth and development of Southwest Chapter since its establishment in October 2023. He noted that this expansion could not have been achieved without the strong support of local governments, the dedicated efforts of the Southwest Executive Committee, and the active participation and engagement of member companies.
The Director of QSI International School of Chengdu and Southwest Chapter Executive Committee member Dr. Clare McDermott delivered a speech representing member companies and the Executive Committee. She commended the Chamber for work in building up local communities, expanding communication and cooperation among members.
Bernstein reviewed the Chapter’s achievements in 2024 and provided an overview of the plans for 2025. He highlighted this year’s key events, focusing on advocacy, business initiatives, and community engagement. He also introduced the planned 2025 Signature Events and Chapter’s Corporate Partner Program. He concluded by reiterating the Chamber’s commitment to deepening collaboration with its members, Bernstein expressed optimism about achieving mutual growth in the year ahead.
During the annual awards ceremony, Hart and Bernstein jointly presented the 2024 Partner in Excellence Award to 10 member companies in recognition of their sponsorship and contributions throughout the year. Following this, the 2024 Community Star Award was bestowed upon 10 individuals from member companies, honoring their unwavering support in promoting and attending Southwest Chapter events and their pivotal role in enhancing our community outreach and impact.
Thank you to the government representatives from CCPIT Sichuan, the Sichuan Foreign Affairs Office, the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Economic Cooperation, and the Chengdu Foreign Affairs Office for their invaluable support of the event.
