On Monday, AmCham China hosted a private breakfast meeting with the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross, and US Ambassador to China, Terry Branstad, in Beijing. The delegation from AmCham China was led by Chairman William Zarit, alongside a delegation of AmCham China member company senior corporate executives, six of whom are CEOs of China operations.
AmCham China members are feeling increasingly nervous about the trade and investment environment for foreign companies in China, according to data from the 2017 Business Climate Survey. Members shared information about recent developments in their respective industries, and were eager to ask Ross about President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to China.
Other attendees included representatives from the US-China Business Council, who co-organized the meeting. At the breakfast meeting AmCham China’s delegation had an opportunity to share information about recent developments affecting the business environment for foreign companies in China.
