Beijing, Wednesday 3rd May 2017.
30 British, American and Chinese companies were honored on Wednesday night for their commitment to developing a fairer and more equal society within China at the second annual BritCham and AmCham China CSR awards.
The awards, sponsored by Harrow International School Beijing, shine a spotlight on great projects that are changing lives across China and inspire companies to deepen their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.
The award ceremony was attended by 250 senior members of the business and diplomatic community including UK Deputy Ambassador Martyn Roper.
The increasing focus on CSR in China was reflected in the 80 companies who had entered – more than double the number of applications received last year.
In her opening speech Clare Pearson, Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in China said:
“Business decisions made purely on the bottom line give you a good quarter. Business decisions that take account of humanity give you a good quarter of a century.”
The British and American Chambers look forward to an even greater participation in 2018 and that our awards will continue to raise awareness on the incredible work of our members and inspire us all to the creation of a cleaner, greener, fairer society for all.
