Company: BowerGroup Asia
Position: Analyst
Hometown: Jinan, Shandong Province
I learned about career opportunities with BowerGroupAsia when I was studying at Georgetown University (getting my master's degree in Asian studies from the Walsh School of Foreign Service). I worked at the company’s headquarters in Washington, DC, as an analyst from 2014 to 2015, and moved to China to continue my role as an analyst and help the company leadership to establish our Beijing office in January 2015.
Prior to joining BowerGroupAsia, I held a variety of research positions focusing on Asia’s economic and security environment in the US. I worked with the Freeman Chair in China Studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in 2013, where I researched in both Chinese and English on leadership transition, economics and trade and social media in China, North Korea and South Korea.
Our business continues to grow in China! We provide strategic consultancy, government affairs and political risk advisory, as well as due diligence for our clients in China. Our clients come from various industries including food and beverages, pharmaceutical, agriculture, information communications technology and sports and entertainment.
We are trying to find more opportunities to get our messages out to potential clients in terms of the services we can provide. We also want to use this tremendous opportunity (of being members of AmCham China) to network with like-minded professionals to better understand the local environment.
We attended several events before joining. We find that AmCham China provides a good platform for communications across industries. We look forward to expanding our networks with other members and learning from the various programs that AmCham China has to offer.
