On September 16, AmCham China Chairman Greg Gilligan attended the main forum of the the 1st SME International Cooperation Summit to deliver a keynote speech on “Supporting China’s SMEs to Integrate into the Global Value Chain”.
Last year, AmCham China launched the Social Impact Initiative (SII). The Initiative placed a strong focus on supporting China’s SMEs in the areas of financing, digital transformation, and gaining access to new markets. In March 2020, AmCham China conducted a flash survey about the impact of COVID-19 on businesses. Based on the survey result, 81% of respondents identified that SMEs contribute to almost half of annual revenue; 36% of respondents said that at least a quarter of business partners are SMEs in their supply chain in China.
This year’s SII will continue to support SMEs in the context of post-COVID recovery with a focus on facilitating green transformation, rural revitalization, and supporting SMEs going abroad. Please stay tuned in for more updates to come!
