On July 21, AmCham China had the honor of participating in a special policy interpretation roundtable meeting organized by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM). The meeting aimed to address the concerns and interests of foreign businesses in China.
During the event, Assistant Minister of Commerce, Chen Chunjian, delivered a keynote speech reaffirming the Chinese government’s commitment to attracting foreign investment. He emphasized the government’s dedication to fostering a fair, transparent, and predictable business environment for all international companies operating in the country.
The discussions at the roundtable covered crucial topics like cross-border data flow, export control, and the “Counter-Espionage Law.” Experts from the Cyberspace Administration of China, MOFCOM, and other relevant departments provided valuable insights and clarifications on these matters, engaging in interactive exchanges with attendees.
Chen Chunjian went on to say that the Ministry of Commerce will further leverage the role of the foreign-invested enterprise roundtable system, engage in regular exchanges with foreign-invested enterprises and business associations, collaborate with relevant departments to strengthen policy promotion and interpretation, and strive to enhance policy transparency and predictability. This is intended to provide better services and environment for foreign-invested enterprises operating in China.
