On the evening of September 4, AmCham China, in partnership with AmCham Shanghai, the US-China Business Council (USCBC), and five Chinese industry associations, co-hosted a reception in Beijing for the leadership of the US-China Commercial Issues Working Group (CIWG). The event welcomed over 100 representatives from business and government sectors in both the US and China.
The reception set the stage for the upcoming second formal meeting of the CIWG, which will take place in Tianjin on Saturday, September 7 following the group’s initial meeting in Washington, DC, earlier this year. Co-Chairs, US Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago and China’s International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen are expected to continue their discussions on vital bilateral commercial issues.
AmCham China Chair Sean Stein, President Michael Hart, and Vice President Claire Ma were in attendance. In his remarks, Stein emphasized the significance of the CIWG’s work in promoting constructive dialogue and wished the Co-Chairs and the visiting US delegation success in the coming discussions.
The CIWG serves as an important mechanism for advancing communication and addressing business concerns between the two largest economies, and AmCham China remains committed to supporting this vital engagement.
