AmCham China Delegation Meets with NDRC and Chongqing Officials

On October 21, AmCham China President Michael Hart led a delegation of member companies to Chongqing for a closed-door roundtable hosted by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Hart led the dialogue with Chongqing Party Secretary Yuan Jiajun. Chongqing Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor Hu Henghua was also in attendance.

In his speech, Hart first introduced AmCham China and its members, before speaking about Chongqing’s strong industrial foundation and significant market, expressing support for the municipality’s future development. He mentioned the importance of strengthening US-China economic ties for mutual benefit, adding that there were plenty of areas for cooperation in fields such as artificial intelligence, new energy, healthcare, and more.

Meanwhile, on October 22, Hart participated in a separate NDRC Roundtable with US multinational companies in Chongqing. During the event, AmCham China leadership met with NDRC Vice Chairwoman Zheng Bei and Chongqing Executive Vice Mayor Chen Xinwu.

During the session, Hart provided insights on how member companies could better engage with large-scale equipment upgrades and the trade-in of consumer goods policies to maximize business opportunities, contributing to constructive dialogues with the NDRC. Officials from the NDRC and the Chongqing government then presented a comprehensive set of policies aimed at encouraging economic growth and further opening up, before a number of representatives from AmCham member companies engaged in in-depth exchanges with relevant departments.
