On Saturday, March 29, AmCham China officially launched the annual Leadership Development Program (LDP) with 2025 program’s first event at the AmCham China offices in Beijing.
This year’s LDP cohort includes 24 representatives from 20 organizations. Over the next eight months, participants will meet monthly for sessions focused on enhancing their knowledge of AmCham China, leadership, business strategy, and US-China relations. Now in its seventh year, the program is designed to challenge and engage emerging and established community leaders through leadership classes and personal development activities from March through October.
The 24 members of the AmCham China 2025 LDP class:

The inaugural session was led by Su Cheng Harris-Simpson, Vice-Chair of AmCham China’s 2025 Board of Governors. She introduced the concept of vertical leadership development and guided participants in drafting their personal leadership plans, which will serve as strategic roadmaps throughout the program.
Michael Hart, President of AmCham China, followed with an in-depth presentation on the Chamber’s mission and findings from the 2025 China Business Climate Survey Report. His insights into the current US-China business environment were followed by a Q&A session.
Unlike traditional business school programs, AmCham China’s LDP offers six defining features:
-
Practice-Oriented and Member-Specific
Content is grounded in real-world challenges within US-China relations, delivering practical insights tailored to the needs of participants. -
Resource Integration and Network Expansion
The program leverages AmCham China’s extensive network, creating unparalleled opportunities for peer learning and collaboration. -
Policy Advocacy Focus
Participants gain deeper insight into the policy landscape and how to effectively advocate for business-friendly conditions. -
Customized and Personalized Learning
The curriculum includes personalized leadership development plans, aligned with both company goals and individual aspirations. -
Lifelong Learning and Growth
Regular assessments and feedback sessions support sustained leadership development and skill-building. -
Cultural and Values-Based Leadership
Sessions emphasize the development of influence and presence, empowering leaders to foster positive team and organizational culture.

As the 2025 Leadership Development Program progresses, it promises to be a transformative journey for all participants. With dynamic discussions, tailored development, and exclusive networking opportunities, the program is poised to shape the next generation of leaders in the US-China business landscape.
About the Leadership Development Program (LDP)
Launched in 2017, the LDP selects high-potential professionals from across industries to participate in a structured, eight-month program. Participants engage in three-hour monthly sessions covering topics such as multicultural leadership, innovative strategy, and government relations. Those who successfully complete the program are awarded a Leadership Development Program Certificate at the Annual General Meeting.
We look forward to the continued growth and achievements of the 2025 cohort!
