The evening commenced with Colm Rafferty (pictured above), Chairman of AmCham China, setting the tone. Highlighting the Southwest region’s potential, he dubbed it a “beacon of opportunity.” Rafferty pointed out the growing number of American enterprises already making their mark in this vibrant market. “Our presence in this region today is proof of our unwavering commitment to assist US companies in navigating the nuances of the Chinese market, ensuring their success and, in turn, contributing to the prosperity of both our nations,” Rafferty remarked.
The event was further enriched by motivating speeches from distinguished guests, Yi Yang, Deputy Director General of the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Economic Cooperation, and Lei Xuejie, Vice President of the CCPIT Sichuan Council. They echoed the positive sentiments regarding the strengthening ties between the two countries. Miao Ronghua, Director of American and Oceanian Affairs Division, Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Province, also attended the ceremony.
AmCham China President, Michael Hart (pictured above), then took the stage to expand on the Chamber’s vision and mission. He emphasized its role as a member-centric body, focused on improving the business climate in China and fostering positive, sustainable US-China economic relationships. “Our mission is to help American businesses succeed in China. We offer advocacy, networking avenues, crucial insights, and a plethora of business support services,” Hart stated. He also proudly mentioned that the Southwest Chapter had organized over 10 events in the current year, culminating in Tuesday’s official inauguration.
In the lead-up to the opening ceremony, key members of the AmCham China leadership engaged in a constructive dialogue with Deputy Director General Yi and Vice President Lei (see above). The meeting was a mutual exchange of ideas aimed at fostering collaboration in this rapidly advancing region.
