On August 3, Marcus Williams, Chairman of AmCham China Tianjin attended the Tianjin Foreign Investment Dialogue Meeting.
During the meeting, Marcus made four suggestions to Tianjin Government:
- Utilize the advantages of Tianjin’s six core districts and CBD area to promote developments for service and finance sectors.
- Enrich Tianjin Port’s international cruise routes and the publicity of the routes; enhance the vitality of the city to accelerate the construction of the “International Consumption City”.
- Normalize the government-enterprise dialogue, leaders from the Municipal People’s Government should actively participate in enterprises’ major celebrations and attach importance to global executives’ visits to Tianjin.
- Send in-time feedback to the central government on the possible negative impacts of the geopolitical events on US companies in Tianjin.
The Tianjin Government officials responded to the questions and placed particular emphasis on their keen attention to major celebrations, openings by US companies, and visits by global executives. They expressed their commitment to making an effort to coordinate city-level leaders’ participation in such events or arrange meetings with companies’ global CEOs. However, they also noted that companies are required to submit their requests at least one month in advance.
