Becky Xia, Fragomen China
Campaign Statement
As Managing Partner of Fragomen’s China practice, I have had the privilege of working with some of the world’s largest corporations across industries such as software, retail, and finance, guiding them through complex immigration and compliance challenges. This diverse expertise equips me to bring a broad, cross-sector perspective to the AmCham China Board, ensuring that the Chamber remains responsive to the evolving needs of businesses in China’s dynamic regulatory environment. I have also been involved in the AmCham Whitepaper drafting.
One of my key achievements involved managing the seamless transfer of over 1,000 expatriate employees for a global software company across all provinces in China, allowing the business to remain agile and competitive amidst regulatory shifts. This experience underscores my proactive approach to government relations and compliance, which is crucial for promoting business interests in today’s bilateral climate.
If elected to the Board of Governors, I will bring this same level of dedication to advocating for our members’ interests. My experience navigating both U.S. and Chinese governmental frameworks will allow me to contribute effectively to AmCham China’s advocacy efforts, ensuring that member companies can continue to thrive. Specifically, I aim to foster more direct dialogues between AmCham members and key regulatory bodies, addressing urgent business concerns with practical, mutually beneficial solutions.
Beyond professional expertise, I am deeply committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within the business community. Through my work with initiatives like the Shanghai Feiye Art School for children with special needs, I’ve seen firsthand how inclusive leadership drives both corporate success and positive social impact. I am excited to bring these principles to AmCham, ensuring that our Chamber remains a space for progressive business practices and meaningful community-building.
Additionally, my pro-bono work, such as assisting retired American teachers in securing visas to teach in Yunnan’s minority regions, reflects my belief in balancing professional success with civic responsibility. I will bring this mindset to the Board of Governors, working to strengthen AmCham China’s contributions both to its members and the wider community.
I envision my role on the Board as both advocate and bridge-builder, promoting AmCham’s strategic goals while fostering inclusive dialogue. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute my expertise in regulatory affairs, cross-border program management, and inclusive leadership, and to help strengthen partnerships between U.S. businesses and China in support of AmCham’s mission of mutual growth and collaboration.
