Campaign Statement
I am honored to announce my candidacy for the Board of Governors. I would be honored to receive your vote for AmCham China’s 2024 Board of Governors, so that I can contribute to the success of AmCham and the US business community in China at this important moment. As the General Manager of Microsoft China, I have been leading the company’s business in China, promoting the advantages of Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud services and solutions along with AI technologies across an extensive network of customers and partners. I have more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, including in technical roles, sales management, and leadership roles in multinational companies.
As a female business leader, I am committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the technology space. I am passionate about empowering women for leadership roles and have been a featured speaker at Microsoft China’s inaugural WDF event, which aims to help one million women in China improve their digital skills. I was also listed as one of “China’s Most Influential Businesswomen of the Future” by Fortune (China) in 2020 and named one of Forbes China’s “Top 100 Outstanding Businesswomen in China” in 2022.
I have spearheaded the digital innovation and transformation efforts within Microsoft China, spanning a diverse array of industries such as retail, manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services. By seamlessly integrating AI and other cutting-edge technologies with deep industry insights, we have propelled our customers’ capabilities into the AI era. Under my stewardship, Microsoft China has undergone a remarkable transformation, with our team embracing a growth mindset, exhibiting an unwavering dedication to customer and partner success, and steadfastly fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone is empowered to make valuable contributions. As a result of these endeavors, Microsoft China’s business has achieved robust double-digit growth and earned the prestigious title of FY23 Microsoft Top Sub Award for Emerging Large
As a member of the Board of Governors, I will leverage my extensive experience in the IT industry and my unwavering commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion. I am dedicated to fostering a conducive atmosphere for U.S. businesses operating in China, and leveraging advanced technology to eradicate more biases, enhance connections and promote collaboration among all parties, and facilitating the realization of a greater number of ideas, enhancing mutual understanding, and strengthening cooperation.

Biography
Bessie Yuan is General Manager of Microsoft China. In this capacity, she is responsible for overall leadership Microsoft’s business in China, actively promoting the advantages of Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud services and solutions across an extensive network of customers and partners. She leads the customer and partner solutions team to empower Chinese commercial customers to connect with global opportunities and help multinational companies expand their operations in China. Through the disciplines of constant learning and continuous transformation, ecosystem and community engagement, Bessie leads the China organization to develop deep industry expertise, centered on unleashing the enormous potential of the China market, driven by the benefits of Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud.
Bessie has more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, including in technical roles, sales management and leadership roles in multinational companies including VMware, Oracle and Hyperion. She served as General Manager of Microsoft China’s Small, Medium and Corporate (SMC) business, and then led the Enterprise Commercial Group (EC) at Microsoft China from 2017 to 2021. In these roles, she excelled at serving enterprise customers in manufacturing, high-tech, financial service, retail, telecom and professional service industries, earning extensive experience leading critical projects across digital transformation, big data, AI and enterprise applications.
Under Bessie’s leadership, Microsoft China transformed it’s engagement model, to one of listening, learning and putting the needs of customers first, focusing on execution excellence to deliver the highest level of customer service. She led the transformation of Microsoft China’s businesses in smart retail, smart manufacturing, smart healthcare, smart finance, and other sectors by fusing innovative technologies and industry insights to advance
customer capabilities and deliver double-digit growth for Microsoft.
Bessie’s leadership has not only been characterized by business performance, but also by her excellence as a role model and commitment to growing and developing inclusive, cohesive, collaborative and high-performing teams. She is a powerful advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion and passionate about giving back to the community. She especially committed to empowering women for leadership in the technology space and was a featured speaker at Microsoft China’s inaugural WDF event which aim of helping one million women in China improve their digital skills. In 2020, she was listed as one of “China’s Most Influential Business Women of the Future” by Fortune (China), and was named one of Forbes China’s “Top 100 Outstanding Businesswomen in China” in 2022.
Bessie holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in economics. She was a committee member of Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management-Hyperion BPM Research Institute.
