Edd Zhou, Founder and CEO of Preplingo, AKA Tianjin International Chinese College (TICC)
Coming from an engineering background, I found myself passionate about applying technology in education to make it accessible to everyone. After earning a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology, and spending 11 years in the states, I returned to Tianjin in 2017 with the mission to teach students anywhere in the world Mandarin, one of the most difficult but the most spoken language in the world – by 16% of the world’s entire population. I have previously worked in an engineering firm, and American International Education Council as a program director. From my own experience in both China and USA, I’m passionate in bridging and connecting the two sides with the power of education, and I’ve been doing so throughout my entire career. Now as a candidate to serve in the Education Committee at AmCham China Tianjin, I’m ready to take that mission one step further.
Preplingo offers online/onsite Mandarin programs to kids, adults, companies and schools around the world. Since its foundation in 2013, Preplingo has served more than 20,000 students from 50 countries and areas.
