Campaign Statement
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is my pleasure to be considered by you for my potential election to the 2023 AmCham Board of Governors. My commitment to you is to best support your interest in the important role of the BOG in China. Details of my background and qualifications are presented in my submitted Bio and include over 35 years of global experience in business development and strategic planning including 22 years of successful business implementation in China. With my technical and business background I am strongly oriented to Intellectual Property Protection issues and have an in-depth understanding of working effectively with the major Chinese companies in cooperative alliances. I have been recognized through leadership responsibilities for my commitment to the success of teamwork and I bring this commitment to my potential BOG role.
There is much to understand about being successful in business pursuits in China and we are all compiling “lessons learned” as we work in this complex business environment. As I have grown in my understanding of the China business culture, I have had the opportunity to conduct seminars in “Doing Business In and Through China” to include effective formation of cooperative alliances along with the critically important strategic planning upon which success depends. The challenges are not always apparent and it is of obvious importance to recognize conflicts early. I will welcome the opportunity when asked by AmCham members to share these lessons. My business activity spans both mega project award and implementation as well as smaller service assignments.
Included in my background is my participation as Program Chairman for the Tokyo AmCham organization during my tenure in Tokyo. Through that activity, I gained an important understanding and appreciation of the value AmCham brings to its member companies. If favored with election to the 2023 BOG, I will make every effort to assist those seeking advice on how best parlay company and individual strengths to enhance ability to achieve and potentially exceed established objectives. I try to be a “good listener” and a “strong doer” and certainly welcome meeting everyone.
