Jean Marc Taton, ExxonMobil China
Campaign Statement
Dear AmCham China Members,
I am Jean Marc Taton from ExxonMobil, a world leading energy, petrochemical and low carbon solutions company. I am running for election to AmCham China’s 2025 Board of Governors and would like to seek for your kind support and vote.
I have been privileged to work for ExxonMobil for over 31 years and have enjoyed positions ranging from Manufacturing to Sales, from Supply Chain to Planning. I have also been fortunate to work in Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia.
In 2021, ExxonMobil decided to invest several billions of dollars in a world-scale, fully owned petrochemical complex in Guangdong to best serve our very large customer base and support their development of sustainable solutions consistent with China’s national petrochemical development priorities.
I was transferred to Beijing in early 2023 to serve as Chairman with missions to oversee our local businesses, foster the development of our organization, and nurture the interface with our external stakeholders.
I am grateful to have served as governor of the AmCham Saudi Arabia Board of Governors in Riyadh. During this time, I gained valuable experience and a great appreciation for the value AmCham brings to its member companies. As a Chairman Circle member, ExxonMobil has witnessed and benefited from AmCham China’s leadership in supportive communications and exchanges between the American business community and the Chinese authorities.
Given the many economic trade and geopolitical challenges in recent years, AmCham has played a precious and critical role in the US-China business community as a trusted partner for both sides. AmCham is an essential platform that enables members to achieve so much more by leveraging expertise and resources for strategic development, impactful advocacy on important issues, and business environment improvement. AmCham also facilitates constructive dialogues and promotes the mutually beneficial relationship between China and the United States.
I would like to bring my expertise, international experience, and energy as a fresh perspective to serve the Board for broader American business communities. I am committed to supporting AmCham’s objectives and contributing to AmCham China. Given my role and the strategy of ExxonMobil, the areas of energy supply and affordability, industrial transformation and sustainability, low carbon solutions development, and investment environment would be my focus in supporting our community.
I look forward to meeting you at a future AmCham event and to continuing to support AmCham’s major events and activities.
I thank you for your kind consideration and support. Your vote is much appreciated.
