On October 21, US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns hosted the US-China Aviation Cooperation Program (ACP) Reception in his residence honoring the US-China aviation relationship and celebrating AmCham China’s ACP’s 20th anniversary.
A distinguished 45-member delegation from China’s government and aviation industry was led by Han Jun, Deputy Administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Key US representatives, including Melanie Harvey, TSA Executive Assistant Administrator, and Stephanie Metzger, TSA Regional Director of Asia Pacific, also attended, along with prominent leaders from the US aviation sector.
This special occasion provided a valuable opportunity for networking and engagement with high-level officials from key Chinese ministries and agencies, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), General Administration of China Customs (GACC) and Chinese airlines.
For two decades, AmCham China’s ACP has played a vital role in enhancing aviation safety, advancing regulatory frameworks, and fostering knowledge exchange between the US and China. This successful public-private partnership has strengthened collaboration and trust, benefiting both countries and contributing to the growth of the global aviation system.
Looking ahead, Alvin Liu, President of Boeing China and ACP Industry Co-chair, expressed optimism: “While challenges remain, we are optimistic about the future of the US-China aviation relationship and look forward to continuing our partnership.” The opportunities ahead will allow ACP to further deepen our collaboration, strengthen our aviation systems, and promote a safer, more efficient global aviation community.
