The second annual AmCham AseanPlus Friendly Golf Tournament took place at the Beijing Country Golf Club on Saturday May 18. AseanPlus is a long-standing Beijing-based group of prominent executives and embassy officials from the ASEAN region who love golf and the annual friendly tournament serves as a great environment to play good golf and meet new friends from the wider professional community.
Awards were on offer for best scores (handicap applicable), closest to the pin, closest to the line, and longest drive, meaning there was lots of fun for all players at all skill levels. The tournament even witnessed a hole-in-one on the closest to the pin hole! Zheng Zhifang was the overall champion, just beating He Wei on the “back nine” rules, after both shot a 79, one shot ahead of Desmond Tan.
“The day was a perfect way to meet new friends from the community and have fun while doing it. Unfortunately, our AseanPlus colleagues outperformed the AmCham China contingent when it came to the scoreboard, but we'll regroup and come back stronger than ever for next year's event,” joked AmCham China President, Alan Beebe (pictured below, second from right).
Speaking afterwards, Jeffrey Lee (pictured above, left), who heads up AseanPlus, commented, “Friends from both AmCham China and AseanPlus enjoyed the great camaraderie amid an impressive turnout. With the unwavering support of our sponsors, we had a great round, a lucky draw, some nice Asian curry, and even some exotic tropical fruits like the durian for dessert! The weather was fantastic and everyone had a happy round of golf and an enjoyable outing. We’re already making plans for next year.”
