AmCham China made its first official trip to Guangzhou on a Business Investment Outreach (BIO) trip last month. A delegation of 21 members, led by President Mark Duval, visited the capital city of Guangdong from Oct. 19 to 21 for a private meeting with Guangzhou Vice Mayor Cai Chaolin (蔡朝林) and other senior officials of the Guangzhou Municipal Government.
Cai introduced the current economic status of Guangzhou, its future economic development strategies and the foreign investment environment. In addition, the delegation was warmly welcomed by AmCham South China and had the opportunity to meet with the US Consul General in Guangzhou, Charles Bennett. He and his colleagues briefed the delegation with functions of the consulate and discussed concerns raised by members. In order to better understand Guangzhou’s economic developments, the delegation also made on-site visits to Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone-Nansha area, Guangzhou Sino-Singapore Knowledge City and Science City in the Guangzhou Development District.
