On April 27, AmCham China Central China Chapter hosted an offline training on coaching, leadership, and how to motivate employees with Scott Shaw.
Jun Hu, of the AmCham China Central China Chapter Executive Committee and General Manager of Synopsis Wuhan hosted the event. The event was facilitated by Scott Shaw, the Director of Coaching Services at Leadership Development International, Vice Chair of the AmCham China Central China Chapter Executive Committee, and Chair of the Central China Chapter Training Committee.
During the session, they explained the basic concepts of leadership style and expanded on the complexity of leadership at different levels. Shaw noted that traditionally, the role of a leader is defined by providing direct orders and guidance to subordinates – in the view of trainers, this will never change. However, in a leadership coaching style he said that leaders aim to improve their leadership by helping employees think critically about the challenges they face, and encourage them to create their own solutions.
The highly interactive training gave participants the opportunity to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the material. In particular the group discussed ideas about how current leaders can help motivate millennial employees on their teams to maximize their protentional.
We at the Chamber have been thrilled to receive such positive feedback about this event and want to thank Scott Shaw and his colleague Sophie for an excellent training!
