On September 20, AmCham China hosted a hybrid briefing to provide insights into the outcomes of the US-China Commercial Issues Working Group’s (CIWG) second Vice-Ministerial meeting, which took place on September 7 in Tianjin.
Everett Wakai, Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the US Embassy and a participant in the meeting, gave members a detailed readout of the discussions between Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago and China’s Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen. The talks covered a wide range of commercial topics crucial to both nations, addressing key concerns raised by their respective business communities. After the briefing, Wakai fielded questions from attendees, offering further insights into the dialogue and discussing potential next steps for the US-China commercial relationship.
