On December 8, the AmCham China Education Committee organized a thought-provoking in-person workshop at the Chamber’s Beijing offices, bringing together a diverse group of educators and professionals. The focus of the event was Stanford’s “Designing Your Energy in Work and Life,” featuring Mr. Cheng Wang, the founder of DT.School® and Designing Your Life® in China, as the distinguished speaker.
The event began with opening remarks from Fran Liu, of the University of Minnesota China Office and one of the Co-Chairs of the Education Committee. Subsequently, Cheng Wang delved into a presentation on Stanford’s “Designing Your Life,” highlighting the significance of an essential tool known as the Energy Map. This practical tool empowers individuals to effectively manage their energy, leading to heightened motivation, greater resilience against stress, and increased psychological toughness.
During the workshop, Wang also introduced a set of mindsets, providing participants with valuable insights into the mindset of “Designing Your Life” and the principles of Design Thinking. The exploration of these mindsets offered attendees a holistic understanding of how to approach challenges and opportunities in both professional and personal spheres.
In the closing segment of the workshop, Liu also shared her own experiences and insights as a practitioner of “Designing Your Life,” offering a real-world perspective on the application of the concepts discussed. This personal touch added depth to the event, leaving participants with practical takeaways to implement in their own lives.
