For the 20th Annual HR Conference, AmCham China is proud to host Michael Distefano, President Asia Pacific at Korn Ferry, as one of our esteemed keynote speakers, where he will explore the future of leadership and self-disruptive leaders.

Korn Ferry is a global organizational consulting firm, synchronizing strategy and talent to drive superior performance for its clients. At the firm, Michael is responsible for setting the strategy and overseeing operations for the Korn Ferry businesses across Asia Pacific. Between 2007 and 2017, he was Chief Marketing Officer of Korn Ferry and President of the Korn Ferry Institute.

"…the analysis found that only 15% of us have the most disruptive, open-to-change leadership profiles that will be required for successful leadership in the future."

In the lead up to his keynote at the 20th Annual HR Conference on June, 28, Michael sat down with AmCham China to give us a preview into the future of leadership, and explain the importance of self-disruptive leaders in the sustainability and success of the organizations of tomorrow.

"The Korn Ferry Institute has come to the conclusion that we will be massively underemployed in terms of the number of skilled workers to fill job openings. It’s not necessarily that there aren’t enough people in the world, it’s that there aren’t enough of the right people. Korn Ferry is predicting that by 2030, there will be 47 million unfilled and open jobs around the world that will cost us trillions in unrealized GDP," Distefano explains.

"Our research has told us that there’s a massive talent crunch looming on the horizon, but what got us here won’t get us there. Through big data analysis, our algorithms can tell us what the most successful people on the planet look like, in terms of their experiences, leadership style, personal drivers and motivators and how competent they are. And, the picture changes quite extensively by geography, industry and role function. Out of millions of executives in the database, the analysis found that only 15% of us have the most disruptive, open-to-change leadership profiles that will be required for successful leadership in the future."

What does this mean for business? What does this mean for leaders of today, and how can they adapt for the realities of doing business tomorrow?

Join AmCham China on June 28 for the 20th Annual HR Conference to learn the answers to these questions, and look into the future of HR, organizations, culture, and people at this full-day conference filled with an all-star lineup of speakers, keynotes, and workshops.
