AmCham China's ICT experts agreed on one point at Tuesday's event: the best way to resolve Internet restriction issues in China is to work closely with the government and continue to voice concerns.

Within the ICT industry, there are increased concerns related to restricted Internet access, data flows and data localization. The future of the ICT industry in China is uncertain.

Tuesday's event at the Capital Club in Beijing addressed these issues by bringing together a panel of He Jing (Anjie Law Firm), John Zhao (Symantec), David Sung (VMware), Hugo Zhang (RELX) and Jonathan S. Kallmer (Information Technology Industry Council).

Zhang pointed out that “early engagement” and “education” are the two most effective ways to deal with governmental issues. In addition, partnering with leading domestic companies is also important. “To make a difference for our own companies and stakeholders, we have to work together as a group,” he said.
