On May 30, AmCham China’s MSSC Committee held its first Supply Chain Navigator Program factory tour with an exclusive tour of Boeing Tianjin Composites (BTC). The event offered attendees an in-depth look at BTC’s operational excellence and unique corporate culture.
The Navigator Program is dedicated to cultivating a dynamic cohort of young professionals and leaders capable of propelling the AmCham China MSSC community forward. Our mission is to nurture professionals passionate about Manufacturing & Supply Chain by fostering close engagement with members and senior leaders of the AmCham China MSSC community and leading companies in the supply chain industry.
This five-month program selects qualified China-based applicants of all nationalities working in different companies, industries, and with varying experience levels. The program is designed to recognize professionals with profound insights and strategic practices within the manufacturing and supply chain industry, empowering candidates to thrive in China’s dynamic business landscape.
The day began with a welcome address from Dan Park, General Manager of BTC. Park discussed BTC’s Executive Strategy, Innovation Leadership, and Community Caring initiatives, emphasizing the company’s motto, “Do More With Less By Happier People.” This motto effectively ties together the principles of safety, sustainability, quality, and integrity, reflecting BTC’s commitment to a positive and productive work environment.
Rayman Liu, Production Director of BTC, led the group on an informative tour of the factory, answering questions and providing insights into BTC’s production processes. The subsequent discussion further unpacked BTC’s dedication to production excellence and continuous improvement.
Lisa Ma, Procurement Leader of BTC, provided valuable insights into supply chain management and localization. Her discussion on Boeing’s supplier selection process and core values was particularly enlightening for those interested in understanding the complexities of global supply chain operations.
The event also featured contributions from Adela Wang, Communications Specialist of BTC, who provided on-site technical support and captured the event through her photography. Michelle Cui, Senior Contract Manager of BTC, played a crucial role in coordinating the logistics and ensuring the smooth execution of the event.
Special recognition goes to Craig Abler, Co-chair of the MSSC Committee and Regional Vice President of Supply Chain Asia at Boeing, and David Song, Co-chair of the MSSC Committee and Director of Supply Chain Management, China & Mongolia, at Cummins, for arranging this insightful opportunity for AmCham members. Their efforts continue to enhance the experiences and networking opportunities available to committee members.
This was the first factory tour in our five-month Navigator Program. Our next workshop will be held on the evening of June 21 at the Cummins office, where David will share his expertise and Cummins’s insights into the digital transformation of supply chain.
