On July 2, the AmCham China MSSC Committee Supply Chain Navigator Program participants embarked on an exclusive factory tour at Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Co. (BFCEC), in Changping District. BFCEC stands as a beacon of advanced manufacturing prowess, recently recognized on the global stage for its innovative practices.
The event, part of AmCham China’s Navigator Program, offered participants a unique opportunity to delve into BFCEC’s cutting-edge operations. Established in 2008 through a joint venture between Cummins and Beijing Foton Motor Co., BFCEC is renowned for its annual production capacity exceeding 520,000 engines, spanning from light to heavy-duty models.
The visit began with an introduction by Claire Ma, Vice President of AmCham China, followed by remarks from Craig Abler, Regional Vice President of Asia Supply Chain at Boeing, and David Song, Director of Supply Chain Strategy & Transformation at Cummins China, highlighting the strategic significance of BFCEC in the global supply chain landscape.
A highlight of the visit was the detailed exploration of BFCEC’s heavy-duty engine manufacturing area, showcasing state-of-the-art production lines and adherence to stringent quality standards. Participants engaged in discussions on BFCEC’s strategic use of advanced technologies, including IoT sensors and AI-driven analytics, to optimize manufacturing processes and product performance.
The tour concluded with a networking session, providing participants with the opportunity to interact with BFCEC executives and industry peers.
