- Dual track Initiative will focus on supporting Chinese public health reform and the MSME ecosystem.
- More than a dozen Fortune 500 companies have signed up, with additional backing from key government stakeholders.
The American Chamber of Commerce in China (“AmCham China”) today launched a new Social Impact Initiative, focused on two tracks: 1) Public Health and 2) micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). This important six-month Initiative aims to pull together government agencies, research institutions, global experts, and AmCham China member companies to drive real change in these two important areas in China.
The purpose of the Initiative is to provide the Chinese government and Chinese society in general with practical and real-time suggestions on public health reforms and on the revitalization of small-scale companies in light of the devastating impact of COVID-19. AmCham China will lead working sessions every 6-8 weeks during the program, focused on critical issues related to China’s public health and MSME ecosystem, with the resulting insights combined into a final report that will be released at the Initiative’s concluding event.
The Social Impact Initiative has already gained significant momentum, receiving backing from a personal endorsement from MOF senior leadership, the Development Research Center (DRC) of the State Council, a personal endorsement from MOF Vice Minister Liao Min, and support from the World Bank, IMF, and other influential stakeholders, and will continue to grow this already impressive ecosystem as the Social Impact Initiative moves forward.
