Last Friday, AmCham China had a successful and pragmatic conference call with Wang Shouwen, Vice Minister at the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM). The call was co-led by Chairman Greg Gilligan and President Alan Beebe, and attended by over 30 member companies. Among them, six companies had direct interaction with Vice Minister Wang, including Amway, Mars, GM, Intel, Starbucks, and Corteva.
The two sides exchanged views on a variety of points, including Sino-US bilateral economic and trade relations, the Phase One trade deal, the business environment, and the recent hot button issue of expats returning to China. Both sides agreed that the US and China must work together to implement the results of the Phase One deal, and to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
