On July 28, Ministry of Finance Vice Minister Zhu Guangyao met with an AmCham China delegation led by President Mark Duval. Vice Minister Zhu gave updates on recent bilateral activities in which he participated, such as the Strategic and Economic Dialogue and bilateral investment treaty negotiations, which are expected to help foreign-invested companies in China. He also responded to issues raised by delegates and explained that because China’s ongoing economic reforms would require enhanced innovative capability, protecting intellectual property rights and providing a transparent investment environment are critical. The AmCham China delegates presented highlights from the D.C. Outreach and expressed appreciation for the long-term friendship with Vice Minister Zhu and the Ministry of Finance.

NDRC Receives AmCham China White Paper

On July 30, an AmCham China delegation led by President Mark Duval delivered the 2015 American Business in China White Paper to Inspector (Director General) Liu Hongkuan in the National Development and Reform Commission’s (NDRC) Department of Foreign Capital and Overseas Investment. The delegation focused on rule of law (transparency and consistency of enforcement) and market access elements of the White Paper. Inspector Liu explained the NDRC’s efforts regarding market access and rule of law, including changes in the Foreign Investment Industrial Guidance Catalogue and approval system. Inspector Liu and his colleagues also commented on questions raised by delegates and expressed the wish to establish a direct communication channel  with AmCham China.
