On April 10, AmCham China will proudly host Elisabeth Martin, Boeing China Vice President of Research and Technology, as one of the featured speakers at the 3rd annual Women Economy Summit, the largest gathering of women leaders in the AmCham China community, with a mission to raise awareness of the key role women play in global economic development.
This year’s Summit, titled Advancing Women's Prism – Closing the Gap, will examine international, regional, and national best practices towards producing concrete steps companies can take to foster a healthy gender balance, inspire female employees to reach their full potential, and unleash the power of the women economy.
At the Summit, Martin will be speaking on the How Corporations Advance Women’s Prism – Closing the Gap panel, discussing the necessity of empowering women in terms of furthering the growth and prosperity of any business, as well as diving into the systemic changes that companies can introduce to ensure equal opportunity for the advancement of women.
As a woman in STEM, working at Boeing for the better part of three decades, Martin has seen the landscape of diversity and inclusion (D&I) in such a formerly male-dominated industry change drastically, and for the better. For many years now, Boeing has set a gold standard for their initiatives and achievements in diversity and inclusion, establishing it as a key driver in their business. “D&I is part of our enduring values. It is a part of who we are, and how we do business,” says Martin. “We have been recognized on multiple external benchmarks for our D&I achievements, including being ranked a top 50 company for diversity in 2018.”
“If we’re not leveraging the value of our talent in that way, we’re really missing out. So, as we become a more global company, it becomes more important that we continue to build on a culture of inclusion so that we can benefit from our global talent,” says Martin.
